A Fabulous Fake G Plan Credenza Sideboard Media Drinks Cabinet

This truly is a “fabulous G Plan fake” and a stunning example of mid century design.

We acquired this from the house of a retired cabinet maker (now sadly passed away) who copied this from a contemporary G Plan cabinet back in the 1970s, making it from scratch with the personal addition of shelves to precisely fit the dining room in the house we acquired it from! I couldn't work out why I had never seen a unit like this before, until I heard the story from the joiner's son and saw the unit in situ.

This carefully made piece is based upon the G Plan Sideboard designed by VB Wilkins for the Fresco range, which has become an essential design piece. Beautifully configured teak complements the signature G Plan Design, features such as the carved inlaid handles and exquisitely carved legs are all similar, if not identical to, the G Plan original. Arguably, this piece could be even better than the original upon which it is based, as I'm fairly sure it's solid teak (rather than hardwood and teak veneers of the original).

This is a beautifully made unique piece and no one will have the same, with plenty of storage for organising clutter and quality craftsmanship with a great history. As previously explained, there's no G Plan sticker but certainly nothing to disappoint with this fabulous fake!

The sideboard has been kept in fantastic condition by its maker, so no restoration work was required. The piece has been nourished with a combination of oils and waxes to revive and enhance the original finish.

Safely delivering items you purchase in a timely fashion is both our priority and also one of the most challenging aspects of our business.
 
Where possible, we would prefer to hand deliver, either by ourselves or via our dedicated courier. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. Grouping these deliveries together, which both saves you cost and also benefits the environment, you should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window.
 
We offer free delivery on some items within 15 miles of Cambridge and also throughout mainland UK on some items advertised. Where free delivery applies, it is most likely to be hand or courier delivered, so expect it to be between 1 and 3 weeks.
 
Our minimum packaging and delivery cost is £30; larger, heavier, or multiple items, or for outreaching areas of the UK, are likely to be significantly more expensive. For multiple purchases, we will happily discount.
 
We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.
