70s Vintage Beaver & Tapley Teak Cocktail/Drinks Cabinet/Desk/Bureau on Hairpin Legs

Sorry, this item has sold.

Designed and manufactured in the mid to late 70s, this is part of the 33 Range of wall mounted cabinets by British manufacturer Beaver & Tapley.

Unfortunately no wall fixing baton was with this piece when we acquired it so we have given it a set of quality steel, powder coated, hairpin legs in black. Now it’s a real Modern Mid Century Storage Cabinet, working as a fabulous drinks or cocktail cabinet, with storage either side for bottles and a mirrored central compartment with glass shelf for glasses.

The height of the cabinet makes it compatible as a bureau or desk when the cabinet door is pulled down. A one off creation by ourselves makes this a flexible alternative to a sideboard whilst taking up minimal space.

Made from high quality woods and teak veneers, these cabinets have stood the test of time from the 1970s and would grace any modern, mid century home. Acquired in near perfect condition, all we have had to do is clean, degrease and re-oil to nourish, enhance and protect the wood.

Our furniture pieces are pre-owned and, where possible, kept in original condition; where necessary, we repair and/or restyle to suit the modern home. As with anything older, they may come with small imperfections, but we hope you will enjoy their character and individuality as much as we do. Please take time to look carefully at the photos as we feel they are an important part of the description and an accurate representation of the condition of this piece of vintage furniture.

About the designers and manufacturers:-

Beaver & Tapley was founded in London by Newman Richardson shortly before the end of the First World War - surprisingly there was never a Mr Beaver or a Mr Tapley, the name was created by Newman to sound as if the company was old and long established.

The way forward became clear when in 1960 Roger Richardson ( Newman’s son ) and the designer Robert Heritage visited the Cologne Exhibition, there they saw a Swedish range of cabinets and shelf systems supported by wall fixed wire ladders. They decided to do away with the constricting ladders, providing a fixing batten for each piece, making space saving furniture with complete freedom of arrangement.

The first wall fixed range known as Tapley SL ( SL for spirit level because
there was one in every batten ) was launched in 1961 and was available until 1978 when it was replaced by the 33 range.

A fantastic functional and adjustable mid century modular system offering high-end British manufacturing with Scandinavian design influences.

Our Delivery Policy

Safely delivering items you purchase in a timely fashion is both our priority and also one of the most challenging aspects of our business.

Where possible, we would prefer to hand deliver, either by ourselves or via our dedicated courier. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. Grouping these deliveries together, which both saves you cost and also benefits the environment, you should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window.

We offer free delivery on some items within 15 miles of Cambridge and also throughout mainland UK on some items advertised. Where free delivery applies, it is most likely to be hand or courier delivered, so expect it to be between 1 and 3 weeks.

Our minimum packaging and delivery cost is £30; larger, heavier, or multiple items, or for outreaching areas of the UK, are likely to be significantly more expensive. For multiple purchases, we will happily discount.

We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.

When ordering, please supply us with your email address and mobile phone number, so we may liaise directly with you regarding delivery. Please advise if there are any delivery restrictions that will apply (such as access, parking restrictions etc.).
