1970s Contemporary Ercol Vintage Refectory Table Model No 155

Sorry, this item has sold.

Check out the wild grain on this Refectory Kitchen/ Dining Table, quality design by the famous manufacturer “Ercol “.

Produced in 1960’s and early 70’s, the table is heavy and solid with a fixed plank top made from solid elm and typical sculpted sledge shaped pedestal legs with supporting/stabilising low bar connecting them.

The table is in excellent used vintage condition ( a tiny amount of movement has occurred between two planks along the middle - this has been checked and re glued to reinforce and is hardly noticeable). The table has been lightly sanded and has been degreased, thoroughly cleaned, and a couple of coats of a coloured oil has been applied to help blend surface scratches and imperfections; finally a clear wax to seal and buffed to a sheen, just how the table was originally finished by Ercol.

This is Ercol’s Refectory Table Model No 155 ( the last photo shows this table in an archived catalogue ) and the finish is old colonial ; a late 1970s contemporary table with a heavy, yet graceful, base.

Ercol furniture was (and still is) produced from only conditioned timbers such as beech, ash and elm - supporting saving the planet from before it was fashionable! An English Elm takes over 150 years to reach maturity; in a piece of Ercol furniture, it is immortalised forever!

The photos show how this table can take on a completely eclectic mix of mid century styles and furniture manufacturers. A great functional, practical, family table, stylish and stable, ready to delight and serve generations to come.
