6 Rare, Ercol Windsor Kitchen/Dining Chairs, Elm & Beech, Model No 400

These rare, iconic, Windsor Chairs were made between 1958 and 1985 - we know this because only 4 spindles are present in the hooped back, originally 5 then reduced to 4 in 1958. Not to be mistaken with the 307 dining chair which is a close relative but with 6 spindles. The 400 are no longer in production, making these extremely collectible.

Steeped in history, these chairs have been sympathetically restored in a manner that not only retains their original charm, but allows them to fit seamlessly into both traditional and contemporary homes. They boast the distinctive Ercol silhouette and quality workmanship associated with this famed High Wycombe factory.

In fantastic condition given their age, there are some signs of wear associated with furniture of this vintage, their rich patina serves only to enhance their historical aesthetic. Structurally sound and sturdy, with surface wear consummate with age including some scratching, chips and scuff marks ( please study the photos as we feel these give an accurate description of their condition ). We have de-greased, cleaned and lightly hand sanded then re-oiled, trying always to maintain the original patina and colouring. The pictures show how we have sympathetically cleaned the chairs, having found them at the back of a dusty garage.

These iconic elm and beech dining chairs have stood the test of time and are now almost 60 years old. An investment antique for the future. Their classic shape and gently tapered legs are so typical of the era and of the Ercol company itself; style and sophistication in perfect unison.

Whilst we spend a lot of time sympathetically restoring each item, some natural wear and tear should still be expected; any unsightly scratches or defects are mentioned and photographed in our descriptions. We believe each piece’s back story adds to the general appeal of each item as it makes it truly unique.

The price is for six chairs and we are not prepared to split the set.

Safely delivering items you purchase in a timely fashion is both our priority and also one of the most challenging aspects of our business.
 
Where possible, we would prefer to hand deliver, either by ourselves or via our dedicated courier. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. Grouping these deliveries together, which both saves you cost and also benefits the environment, you should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window.
 
We offer free delivery on some items within 15 miles of Cambridge and also throughout mainland UK on some items advertised. Where free delivery applies, it is most likely to be hand or courier delivered, so expect it to be between 1 and 3 weeks.
 
Our minimum packaging and delivery cost is £30; larger, heavier, or multiple items, or for outreaching areas of the UK, are likely to be significantly more expensive. For multiple purchases, we will happily discount.
 
We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.
