The Orient Trunk Shop, opened in 1903, was a luggage store selling cases, trunks and bags that were predominantly hand made in the cellar beneath the shop. The store became The Bag Stores until the 1980s, when brothers Andrew and David Shilton added their Cellini brand to the store.
āOrient Makeā trunks where specially designed for use on the Orient Express as the luggage needed to be light, strong and fireproof.
This lovely old original travel trunk has no tears or damage, other than marks from wear and usage which adds to its patina. Solid brass locks in working condition but sadly no key. Leather corner protectors all in place and five metal studs on the base of the trunk are also still present. There is damage to the leather handle - please see photos.
This is truly a historic, high quality, piece of vintage luggage with a great history, complete with old travel labels still attached. All in original un-refurbished condition; many prefer them this way so we leave alone!
