CENTA drop leaf table and two chairs from the mid 1960s

A staple of many homes back in the Mid 20th Century, formica topped tables were practical and stylish. They came in many sizes, patterns and colours, instantly transforming any dull kitchen/dining space.

The smooth, glossy surface was designed for easy cleaning, should you spill your cornflakes in the morning or fondue in the evening!

With two folding leaves, this compact table is perfect for those who don’t have much dining space. The table is in good vintage condition, the top being well preserved for its age.

But the top of this table is not made from Formica; from our research into these tables, we have now discovered that CENTA ( a British manufacturer in London) used an alternative product to Formica called “Revelite”, supposedly heat, stain and scratch resistant?! To be fair, this little table is in excellent vintage condition, a real credit to the British manufactuer and its previous owners, just take a look at the photos! Standing on solid beech legs with an Ercol style wooden sliding bar underneath to hold the side panels upright, all in perfect working order.

The two retro kitchen chairs included in the listing price with the table have been sanded and re waxed. New foam and a modern fabric now adorns the seat pads, giving a mid century modern retro kitchen/dining option to its new owners, so versatile and a great compact size, perfect where space is limited. At some point the chairs have been repaired; our joiner has checked the repair and the chairs are fit for purpose, solid and sturdy.

From kitchenalia to furniture and everything in between - would seat 2 or 4 comfortably and could work easily as a desk space !
