Rare 1960s G Plan Quadrille Chequered Teak Nest of Three Tables

A particularly special 1960s G Plan Quadrille nest of three tables, designed by R. Bennett, and a less frequently encountered variation of this highly collectable British mid-century design.

Not the Quadrille nest most commonly found today, this unusual version features wonderfully distinctive chequered/block-pattern teak tops, giving the tables a striking patchwork of changing grain, colour and figuring. We have handled many pieces of G Plan furniture over the years, but this is the first Quadrille nest we have had with these distinctive tops – an especially interesting find for the G Plan collector or enthusiast of British mid-century furniture.

The three graduated tables sit neatly within one another, their open rectangular frames creating the light, architectural appearance for which the Quadrille range has become so recognisable.

The quality of construction is particularly apparent on closer inspection. Individual sections of beautifully figured teak create the distinctive tops, while the contrasting laminated detailing visible at the corners and joints is a lovely reminder of the craftsmanship and attention to detail associated with G Plan furniture of this period.

An original red G Plan label remains present, confirming the maker and adding further appeal for the collector.

Beautiful design aside, this is also exceptionally practical furniture. Three individual occasional tables nest into essentially the footprint of one, providing additional surfaces whenever required without permanently occupying valuable floor space. Use them beside a sofa or armchair, as drinks, lamp or occasional tables, individually around a room, or simply nested together as a sculptural piece of mid-century furniture.

The tables have been carefully cleaned and re-oiled, nourishing the timber and bringing out the wonderful warmth, depth and variation of the teak grain while retaining their authentic vintage character.

They remain solid, sturdy and fully fit for purpose. Inevitably for genuine vintage furniture of around sixty years old, there are signs of previous use. Most notably, there are two scratches to the top of the largest table and a small indentation to the middle table. These have been photographed for complete transparency and are consistent with the age and history of the set.

A highly collectable and much less commonly encountered version of the iconic G Plan Quadrille nest, combining recognisable 1960s British design, beautiful teak, original G Plan provenance and an unusual decorative top treatment.

A wonderful opportunity to acquire a Quadrille nest that is just that little bit different from the examples more commonly found today.

Safely delivering items you purchase in a timely fashion is both our priority and also one of the most challenging aspects of our business.

Wherever possible, we try to offer free kerbside delivery, contact-free, to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window.

Exclusions to free delivery apply, including where tolls or congestion zone fees apply, for which there will be an additional charge.

Free delivery does not apply to locations a long way away from our location in Cambridge or to areas of mainland UK not routinely covered by our trusted couriers - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon as practicable after the sale goes through.

We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. We regularly export to Northern Ireland and Eire and the majority of Europe. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.

Please advise if there are any delivery restrictions that will apply (such as anything other than ground floor access, parking and access restrictions etc.).
