G Plan Fresco Modular Two Door Cabinet with Original Labels One Owner British Mid-Century Modern

A genuine G Plan Fresco two-door cabinet designed by Victor Bramwell Wilkins, dating from the early to mid-1970s. Still one of G Plan’s most enduring and recognisable designs, the Fresco range remains highly sought after for its timeless styling, exceptional craftsmanship and remarkable versatility.

This particular cabinet is a wonderful survivor. Acquired from the original owner’s home, it has clearly been cherished throughout its life and remains in exceptionally clean, honest condition for a piece now over fifty years old.

One of the standout features is its remarkable provenance. The cabinet retains not only its original red enamel G Plan badge, but also the original hanging G Plan care tag and the factory Quality Department Inspection Approval label. These paper labels were almost always removed or discarded decades ago, making it increasingly uncommon to find examples that still retain both. Small original details like these are exactly what serious G Plan enthusiasts and collectors appreciate, offering reassuring evidence of authenticity and careful ownership.

The cabinet has been sympathetically prepared in our Lightfoot & Lowe workshop, where it has been thoroughly cleaned, lightly refreshed and nourished to enhance the natural beauty of the teak while preserving its originality. The colour is rich and even, the grain beautifully figured, the sculpted solid teak handles remain crisp, the doors align perfectly and the interior is exceptionally clean, complete with its original adjustable shelf.

Designed as part of G Plan’s modular furniture system, this cabinet was intended to work beautifully as a standalone piece or alongside other Fresco cabinets, allowing owners to build matching storage over time. Today it is every bit as relevant as when it left the factory, making an ideal TV unit, media cupboard, drinks cabinet, hallway storage or stylish side cabinet. Its compact proportions make it particularly well suited to modern homes, apartments and smaller living spaces where quality storage is needed without dominating the room.

For complete transparency, there is one small historic mark to the top surface, shown clearly in the photographs. It is minor, entirely consistent with careful use over the last five decades and does little to detract from what is an exceptionally well-preserved example.

Furniture of this quality is becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly with such impressive originality and provenance. A timeless British design classic that continues to prove why the G Plan Fresco range remains one of the most collected and loved mid-century furniture collections ever produced.

Safely delivering items you purchase in a timely fashion is both our priority and also one of the most challenging aspects of our business.

Wherever possible, we try to offer free kerbside delivery, contact-free, to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window.

Exclusions to free delivery apply, including where tolls or congestion zone fees apply, for which there will be an additional charge.

Free delivery does not apply to locations a long way away from our location in Cambridge or to areas of mainland UK not routinely covered by our trusted couriers - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon as practicable after the sale goes through.

We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. We regularly export to Northern Ireland and Eire and the majority of Europe. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.
