A Matching Pair of Mid-Century Avalon Teak Bedside Cabinets

A handsome matched pair of British mid-century Avalon bedside cabinets, dating from the early to mid-1970s, a period when Avalon were producing well-designed, affordable modern furniture for contemporary British homes. Avalon pieces have become increasingly popular with collectors and interiors buyers alike, appreciated for their clean lines, practical proportions and ability to sit comfortably alongside makers such as Stag, Meredew and Austinsuite. Both cabinets retain their original Avalon labels, confirming authenticity and making this a fully identifiable, collectible pair.

Each cabinet is finished in a warm rich teak veneer with attractive natural grain detail, complemented by the original brass handles. Designed as a true pair, one cabinet opens to the left and the other to the right, making them ideal for either side of the bed. The layout is practical and visually balanced, with an open upper shelf for books, lamps or display, and a lower cupboard providing generous enclosed storage. The cabinets sit on distinctive side plinth feet, giving them a strong, architectural stance that works particularly well in modern homes.

The pair is in great vintage condition overall, fully cleaned and sympathetically presented. As photographed, the most noticeable imperfections include scratches to the top inside shelf on one cabinet, a replacement door catch to one unit, along with sun fading and surface wear to the tops and a noticeable scratch to one door. These marks are consistent with age and use and are clearly shown in the images; otherwise, only age-appropriate wear is present. Structurally sound and well-proportioned, this is a versatile and sustainable pair that works equally well as bedside cabinets, side tables or compact storage units — a highly affordable way to introduce authentic British mid-century design into both vintage-inspired and contemporary interiors.

Safely delivering items you purchase in a timely fashion is both our priority and also one of the most challenging aspects of our business.

Wherever possible, we try to offer free kerbside delivery, contact-free, to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window.

Exclusions to free delivery apply, including where tolls or congestion zone fees apply, for which there will be an additional charge.

Free delivery does not apply to locations a long way away from our location in Cambridge or to areas of mainland UK not routinely covered by our trusted couriers - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon as practicable after the sale goes through.

We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. We regularly export to Northern Ireland and Eire and the majority of Europe. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.

When ordering, please supply us with your mobile ‘phone number, so we may liaise directly with you regarding delivery. Please advise if there are any delivery restrictions that will apply (such as anything other than ground floor access, parking and access restrictions etc.).
