MCM Gangso Mobler Teak & Botanical Tiled Extending Dining Table.

This Danish teak and tiled top dining table is a marvellous mid century example of quality, design and style in a 70s favourite colour palette!

Whilst these tables are a love hate thing, personally I love them - they certainly add more than a little something and are definitely a talking point in today’s modern living environment. Hugely practical for children and adults, with the tiles able to cope with that hot cup of tea or coffee and easily wiped clean; even the spills from that Indian takeaway would blend in!

The table could make quite an impact, perhaps in a private dining space or hotel restaurant.

A solid teak frame with handcrafted fern leaf designed ceramic tiles form a central geometric pattern to the table top with the same pattern repeating on the two removable/extending panels. All are original and intact with no chips or cracks. The table does shows signs of wear and tear expected from a piece of used furniture of this age, we have tried to show the worst of the damage in our photos.

The table top can be removed for delivery and access.

Underneath the table shows the authenticating stamp as shown in the photos.

The tiles match those of Poul Hermann Poulsen, a Danish designer who worked designing ceramic tiles for, amongst others, Gangso Furniture in Faarvang, Denmark. Some of his designs’ typical characteristics are the images of fern leaves, hogweed flowers and rushes and also circular patterns in various colours. He appears to favour an imperfect/distressed look for the glaze on the finished tiles, as illustrated in the photos. In the 1970s he worked mostly in those fashionable brownish shades that are trending so much today; his tiles are traded as “original 70s“ retro design antiques and are highly collectible.

Kept completely original, we have cleaned, degreased and re oiled the wood and polished the tiled top surface, the table is solid and sturdy with no wobbles.

This is certainly a striking 70’s practical dining table, seating four and extending to seat eight comfortably, also a generous sized table but able to be easily compacted for every day use, with the extra panels hanging to each end of the table. The extra panels can also be completely removed or used independently depending on the guests to be seated.

In most circumstances, we offer free hand delivery, contact-free, kerbside to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window. Exclusions to free delivery apply, including where tolls or congestion zone fees apply, for which there will be an additional charge. Free delivery does not apply to areas of mainland UK not covered by our trusted couriers - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon a practicable after the sale goes through, giving you the option of a full refund.
 
We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. We regularly export to Northern Ireland and Eire and the majority of Europe. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.
