After many years of neglect, a new generation is discovering G-Plan again!
Vintage pieces are commanding high prices. People are finding that furniture from the 50s and 60s and particularly G-Plan, was better made than most antique and modern furniture and looks stunning in a modern setting.
G-Plan began in 1953 with just one range of furniture, Brandon, designed by Victor Bramwell Wilkins which was finished in light oak, mid oak or dark mahogany. Light oak was the fashionable look in the early 50s, consequently today most surviving Brandon is in light oak.
This rare pair of matching little bedsides are in the light oak veneer finish with solid oak handles; kept original and with only one owner from new we have cleaned and degreased them, then several coats of oil applied to enhance and future protect the woods and veneers. They features a top drawer, one unfortunately shoes a historic ink stain, therefore we have loose lined both drawers. Inside on the base is the G Plan gold stamp E Gomme. Inside the drawer is a little hinged sleeve which you flip up so that a tray can sit level on top of the bedside, for tea, etc. The cupboards below have two brass hinges and a metal ball catch which closes with a click sound. The interior of both cupboards are clean and odour free.
As you would expect from G Plan, these are very well made pieces and are solid and sturdy. In good vintage condition, with only minor signs of wear which you have to accept after over 60 years of careful use.
