These iconic Windsor Chairs were made between 1958 and 1985 - we know this because only 4 spindles are present in the hooped back, originally 5 then reduced to 4 in 1958. Not to be mistaken with the 307 dining chair which is a close relative but with 6 spindles. The 400 are no longer in production, making these extremely collectible.
They boast the distinctive Ercol silhouette and quality workmanship associated with the famed High Wycombe factory. These iconic elm and beech dining chairs have stood the test of time and are now probably 40 years plus old, an investment antique for the future. Their classic shape and gently tapered legs are so typical of the era and of the Ercol company itself; style and sophistication in perfect unison.
These iconic Windsor chairs fit seamlessly into both traditional and contemporary homes. Now ready for their new home, they have been cleaned, degreased and re-polished.
The chairs are made of solid beech and elm wood and have their own unique colour finish, they have the classic Ercol rounded oyster elm seat, both generous and comfortable. Suitable as a desk chair as well as around a kitchen or dining table.
Steeped in history these chairs have been loved and well used but both chairs are in great vintage condition, structurally sound and fit for purpose. They do have some scratches and wear as to be expected for their age and usage.
We usually have other pairs and odd ones in stock and complementing Ercol tables, if it’s a full kitchen/dining set you are after. Message us beforehand for pricing and availability! Always happy to discount on multiple purchases!
