Danish MCM Set of 4 Teak Chairs 1970s with Blue Upholstered Seat Pad

This set of 4 MCM dining chairs which probably date from the early 1970’s.

With no maker’s mark or stamp, this set could be anyone’s guess as to who the brand or maker is! G Plan, Meredew, Jentiiqe, or even McIntosh, the most distinguishing feature is two bars on the underside of all of the chairs - a design I have not come across before !

Being characteristically Danish they feature smooth crisp curves and elegant joinery. Most likely made from solid afrormosia (African teak) with a beautiful wood grain running throughout.

The frames have been thoroughly degreased, cleaned and re-oiled, they are sturdy, no wobbles or loose joints and are robust and solid. There are some scuffs, scratches and marks to the frames only commensurate with age and use and are as to be expected.

The chairs have a generous seat pad and have possibly the original upholstery - this has been freshened and scotch-guarded offering further protection. The fabric does show signs of age and there is wear to the corners of two of the chairs on the front edge, however the colour remains clear and has no odours or stains. The colour is best described as a dark blue teal velour, hopefully our photos show this.

Another option with this set of four chairs would be to reupholster, this would be at a further cost of approximately £80 plus fabric. Message us beforehand if this is your preferred route!

The UK throws away around 1.6 million tonnes of furniture and bulky waste each year, most of which ends up in landfill. Reusing what has already been (well) made makes ever more sense !

Please remember to look carefully at our photos, we try to give a good representation of the condition of our furniture in both our images and description. Vintage items have all had a previous life and in most cases the condition will show signs of age with wear and tear, including scuffs and scratches, commensurate with age. In most circumstances, we offer free hand delivery, contact-free, kerbside to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window. Exclusions to free delivery apply, including where tolls or congestion zone fees apply, for which there will be an additional charge. Free delivery does not apply to areas of mainland UK not covered by our trusted couriers - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon a practicable after the sale goes through, giving you the option of a full refund.
