Vintage Blond Oak Extending Rectangular Kitchen Dining Table with Four Chairs Danish Style 1950s

The public’s love affair with Retro & Mid Century dining table and chair sets shows no sign of ending and why would it, with examples such as this from the fabulous 50s.

This complete dining set was brought, as a wedding present and has stayed in the family for over 50 years, until we acquired it. With such lovely provenance, it would be a shame to split them up!

The table is solid and sturdy and in good working order; it has been thoroughly degreased, lightly sanded, re oiled and polished. The table simply pulls apart to fit the extra middle leaf and slides back together; the central leaf is held in place with brass studs on either side of the main table leaves, this extra leaf is able to be stored inside the table so is always easily accessible. There is a small dark mark to the central leaf and there is a slight difference in colour than the outer leaves.

The chairs have also been cleaned, degreased and re oiled, not sure if the seat pads are completely original and have been re-inforced at some point but are still in good useable condition, no wobbles, with only wear and tear expected from a vintage set. Some scuffs to the legs and backs of the chairs and small pin prick to one of the seat pads. All of this is shown in the photos.

The seats are comfortable and offer quite a generous seat base. The fabric is a textured green vinyl.

There is no branding on either the table or chairs but definitely Danish in style and design, of good quality and well built. The table hardwood frame is probably beech with a veneered blond oak coloureds top, the chairs have a hardwood frame, again probably beech, and a steam bent plywood butterfly shaped backrest with oak coloured veneers.

This set is quite a rare, unusual, find and is in fabulous condition, certainly an attractive practical set for any mid century modern home or perhaps a trendy coffee shop looking for an unusual yet typical of the period set.

In most circumstances, we offer free hand delivery, contact-free, kerbside to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window. Exclusions to free delivery apply, including where tolls or congestion zone fees apply, for which there will be an additional charge. Free delivery does not apply to areas of mainland UK not covered by our trusted couriers - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon a practicable after the sale goes through, giving you the option of a full refund.
