The gateleg table was first introduced in England in the 16th century. The table top has a fixed section and two hinged leaves, which, when not in use, fold down below the fixed section to hang vertically.
Made by Ansager Mobler, circa 1970s. Made from hardwood and quite heavy, an attractive grained teak veneer top showing only minimal surface damage, the worst being shown in our photos. The side supports are in a contrasting darker teak, enhancing the simple and minimalist nature of this Scandinavian design, solid beechwood folding legs neatly tuck away as both sides of the table fold down.
The public’s love affair with Mid Century teak dining tables shows no sign of ending and why would it, with examples such as this ? If your house or apartment simply does not have the necessary space for a large table at all times, this rectangular teak dining table gives you the perfect combination of space-saving design, beauty and durability. Seating 4 or even 6, or 2 when half up, perhaps against a wall, it would also make a great desk space or workstation.
Unmistakably ingenious Danish style and design this also still has its label and maker’s mark, this design is also very similar to the greatly desired G Plan Fresco gate leg table, but slightly smaller in size.
The table is in great vintage condition with all moving parts functioning as they should. The table has been thoroughly cleaned, degreased and re oiled to enhance and protect the fabulous teak wood and grained veneers. There are photos of the imperfections included in this listing - please take time to look carefully at these as they form an important part of the description.
The price quoted is for the table only - we have suitable sets of chairs listed separately. If it’s a dining set you’re after, we usually have a few other mid century sets to choose from, just check our other listings or message us for further options. Always happy to discount for multiple purchases!
