Vintage Square Drop-Leaf Dining Table by Lucian Ercolani for Ercol Model No 492

Ercol is instantly recognisable and this table, model 492, appears to be a firm favourite of collectors and a popular choice ( when available ) - we can certainly see why, compact, extending when needed, fabulous wood grains and classic Danish style design influences at an affordable price for a table that is solid wood, not to mention bang on trend !

This vintage table was originally purchased in the 60s and has been lovingly used and looked after by the same family ever since, but had been stored away for the last 6 or 7 years. We have tried to keep this completely original but have had to sand off the top coating of Ercol’s original finish as this was quite patchy. We have then re oiled the table top enhancing the beautiful elm grain as well as providing protection and nourishment. A final top coat of wax and varnish has been applied to protect. Other than a slight gap in the timber on the central part of the table, which we have tried to photograph; the table has only normal signs of usage, no deep scratches or or ring marks. Please take time to look carefully at the photos as we feel they form an important part of our description of this vintage piece of furniture.


Made between 1964-1970, this iconic design has stood the test of time. The beautiful, honey-toned ‘blonde’ elm top sits on long, beech splayed legs.
With the option of folding the extra leaves to save space when not in use; it features a detailed support frame and a “bolt” system for supporting the table flaps.

The Ercol ‘Windsor’ table is nothing if not versatile, characterised by its softly tapered, solid elm wood table top that gently slopes off, there are no hard edges or angles at the sides. The table top isn’t quite an exact square but it certainly looks so. With the leaves down, it’s a compact piece that will tuck neatly away and when required it extends to a generous 124 cm in length so can comfortably accommodate six diners, eight at a push! ( one of our photos show how two chairs to each side fit. ). Ercol extended tables are not only highly practical, they are space efficient pieces of furniture; they also retain their proportion whether extended or closed.

A great kitchen/dining table and because of the extension leaves an useful occasional desk space ; a great addition to any mid century lover’s home as well as looking very much at home in a cottage or country residence.

Our furniture pieces are pre-owned and, where possible, kept in original condition; where necessary, we repair and/or restyle to suit the modern home. As with anything old, they may come with small imperfections, but we hope you will enjoy their character and individuality as much as we do.

A light dust with a damp lint-free cloth is the best way to care for our furniture. As with any wooden furniture - we recommend you use a coaster - hot drinks and wet rings leave marks. All our furniture has been finished and protected with oils and/or wax or a clear varnish. It’s pretty hardy but it’s not bomb proof, so please respect it as you would any other piece to keep it at its best.

In most circumstances, we offer free hand delivery, contact-free, kerbside to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window. Exclusions to free delivery apply, including where tolls or congestion zone fees apply, for which there will be an additional charge. Free delivery does not apply to areas of mainland UK not covered by our trusted couriers - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon a practicable after the sale goes through, giving you the option of a full refund.
 
We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. We regularly export to Northern Ireland and Eire and the majority of Europe. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.
