Mid Century Ercol 477 Chair ( A Pair Available)

Ercol was founded in 1920 by a young Italian immigrant, Lucian Ercolani, whose simple goal was to make furniture that was well designed and made in a good working environment by craftsmen who really took pride in their jobs. Design has always been at the heart of Ercol - design for comfort, design for function, design for beauty, combining practicality with looks.

Boasting the distinctive Ercol silhouette and quality workmanship associated with the famed factory in High Wycombe, this chair has only needed minimal restoration; just cleaned and degreased before re-oiling then waxed and buffed. The double bend back with its curved and moulded foam-filled cushions gives the same comfort as the tall back 478.

There are only a few marks visible on the beech frame commensurate with the age and use of this classic, yet contemporary, chair, as shown in the photos. There is no evidence of any repairs and the chair is solid and sturdy, all joints are good. The original fabric vintage cushions are in great condition, no rips or holes, buttons all intact and fully functional zips, these have been gently steam cleaned to freshen. The webbing underneath is in good condition. The Ercol badge is still present on the back of the chair and the model No 477 is stamped on the inside of the frame.

This chair was acquired at the same time with a matching other 477 chair, both have the same fabric covering. We have included a photo of the two together as they were for many years. These two chairs have been in the same room for over 60 years and are in fabulous condition.

In most circumstances, we offer free hand delivery, contact-free, kerbside to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window. Exclusions to free delivery apply, including where tolls or congestion zone fees apply, for which there will be an additional charge. Free delivery does not apply to areas of mainland UK not covered by our trusted couriers - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon a practicable after the sale goes through, giving you the option of a full refund.
 
We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. We regularly export to Northern Ireland and Eire and the majority of Europe. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.
