An MCM Coffee Table by Richard Hornby in Aframosia Teak

This size of coffee table is a perfect fit in today’s modern living spaces - large enough to do its job but compact enough so not to dominate a room.

A fabulous shape with useful storage/magazine rack below and crafted from real woods, there are clear Danish influences that have helped style this table, with inverted curved ends and detailing around the rim, all sitting on tapering teak legs.

The table has been thoroughly cleaned and degreased, lightly sanded and has had several coats of quality teak oil to enhance and protect. Whilst the table is in excellent vintage condition it does show the normal signs of use. Please study the photos as we feel they are a true representation of the condition of this vintage item, we have highlighted the worst of any damage, on this particular piece a scratch and a slight chip to one edge. At some point we think this may have been darkened with a coloured varnish.

British furniture designer Richard Hornby is best known for his long and successful collaboration with furniture makers Fyne Ladye of Bath. He worked predominantly with African teak (afromosia) and his pieces were sold in the likes of Heals and Harrods.

The quality of wood and manufacture is as you would expect from this quality maker. Rarely are their pieces labelled as they were retailed through top independent shops like Heals of London. Such retailers preferred to sell more exclusive pieces which didn’t have maker’s labels on them.

In most circumstances, we offer free hand delivery, contact-free, kerbside to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window. Exclusions to free delivery apply, including where tolls or congestion zone fees apply, for which there will be an additional charge. Free delivery does not apply to areas of mainland UK not covered by our trusted couriers - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon a practicable after the sale goes through, giving you the option of a full refund.
 
We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. We regularly export to Northern Ireland and Eire and the majority of Europe. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.
