Iconic Vintage Bent Beechwood Thonet Style Rocking Chair

A bit about this style of chair:-

Michael Thonet chose to present the Schaukelstuhl as a chair for the home, for every home, a piece that every family could use and experience in everyday life. There was also a scaled-down version for children, as posters of the time demonstrate. Comforting, the Schaukelstuhl was also chosen to enrich relaxation areas and winter gardens of elegant hotels. An iconic piece loved by famous people including and most famously Picasso, who had two of them in his atelier.

Not entirely sure of the age of this chair but having degreased and lightly sanded plus applying a coat of oil, it’s far to say it is in good used vintage condition. The cane has no damage to either the seat pad or the back-rest. However there are signs of general usage and wear and tear to the frame in the form of scuffs and scratches. A very cool chair that would be a real talking point in any room so now it is just waiting for a new home!

In most circumstances, we offer free hand delivery, contact-free, to most mainland UK addresses, either by ourselves or via our dedicated, trusted, couriers. This ensures that your purchases arrive in exactly the condition they were in when you purchased them, as accurately described on our site. You should expect delivery to be within 1 to 3 weeks of you placing the order. We will contact you directly with a firm delivery date and advise you in advance of a two hour delivery window. Free delivery does not apply to areas of mainland UK not covered by our trusted couriers, or for low value items - if this applies to your purchase, we will simply charge you what we are charged for delivery, less any Etsy fees, and notify you of this as soon a practicable after the sale goes through, giving you the option of a full refund.
 
We are able to package and export items beyond mainland UK and have done so as far afield as Hong Kong and New Zealand. We regularly export to Northern Ireland and Eire and the majority of Europe. Please contact us directly for a tailored quotation.
